Unavailability of transport facility, People suffering due to admin apathy | | | Tahir Mushtaq Early Times Report RAMBAN, July 26: Owing to the poor connectivity, people across the district Ramban face difficulties to reach the District Administration Complex Ramban for their day to day work in different government offices. In the absence of direct transport facility to Maitra where the District Administrative Complex has been situated, People are compelled to hire expensive auto rikshaws or taxis, which they can ill afford. Despite number of government offices shifted in newly constructive administrative blocks in mini secretariat of district Ramban, the district administration failed to provide direct transport facility to the people of different tehsils to reach this nodal administrative centre. The main cause of the non availability of passenger vehicles is due to worst condition of existing suspension bridge "Jullah Bridge" over river Chenab in Maitra. It is pertinent to mention that this bridge has been declared unsafe by the concerned agency GREF since two decades as no heavy vehicle is allowed to cross the said bridge. Inspite of lapse of many years no one from state government has taken any initiative to repair it. Many times, people complain about the inconvenience caused due to the non availability of transport facility by the district administration. Ramesh Gupta a local said especially during hot summer season it is very difficult to reach the administrative complex for any work, the district administration should think about it and provide some transport facility for the common masses. When contacted Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Ramban Shammi Kumar said that so far no one has applied for the route permit for the said area. "Now the department will look into the matter and ask the transport union to route some auto rikshaws from the areas where surplus rikshaws are plying" he added. |
