'No one has authorized them to give shutdown calls, announce relaxation' | We don't know Geelani, Mirwaiz, Malik | | Early Times Report jammu, July 26: It's time for separatists to call it quits and wind up their shops in Kashmir. The relaxation in shutdown given by the so-called joint separatist leadership comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik didn't evoke any response today as youth appeared at many places and enforced shutdown in different parts of Srinagar city. Reports said the masked youth asked shopkeepers and the transporters that shutdown is on and they should not dare to open their shops. "Who is Geelani, Mirwaiz and Malik. We don't know them. Neither do we follow their programmes. No one has authorized them to give shutdown calls and then give relaxation," locals quoted youth as saying. It's in place to mention here that separatists had asked people to resume their daily chores after 2:00 pm today and then carry on with the shutdown from Wednesday onwards. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Youth defying separatists proves that they are non-entities and don't have any control over the situation. They (separatists) should stop bragging about them being the representatives of people and calling themselves as leaders." He said, "It seems the present unrest in Kashmir is being directly handled from across the border and people sitting in Pakistan have hired new people to ensure that disturbance prevails in Kashmir." A source said, "The people who are orchestrating these street protests have hired the youth from low income group and are instigating them to pelt stones and hit the streets. The youth are being paid anything between Rs 500/ to Rs 700/ per day. On the other hand CDs have been distributed across the mosques which are played on loud speakers in the evening. Present situation is reminiscent of nineties." He said, "Local handlers of miscreants have been identified and they would be put behind the bars soon. A massive crackdown would be launched in a day or two to detain the youth who are hitting the streets and are not allowing the normalcy to return. Once the life returns to normal in Kashmir there is every possibility about Pakistan being taught a lesson by targeting the militant camps in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK)." Insiders revealed that youth defying the separatists has created ripples in the separatist camp as they have been left red-faced. "Youth challenging the writ of separatists on Kashmir streets means that they (separatists) have no say. Even if they call off the shutdown no one would follow them and the present unrest in Kashmir is part of the proxy war which Pakistan has been fighting in the state for the past 26-years," the source added. |
