Alleged incident of release of man, woman who were caught 'nude'
Probe being weakened against 'accused' SHO

Early Times Report
jammu, July 26: The SHO of a peripheral police station, who had allegedly taken a huge bribe money for freeing a man and a woman whom he had caught nude a few days back, is likely to go unpunished as reports suggest that the probe initiated into the incident by a senior officer is being being weakened and taken to a wrong direction.
The SHO had extracted a huge amount of bribe money from the couple for not registering any case against them, police sources alleged.
Both the man and the woman are said be officers in the civil administration. They were caught nude in a room by the SHO on the basis of a complaint lodged by locals, sources alleged.
Their photographs were also said to have been taken soon after the police raid. Sources said the SHO tried to keep the incident a secret, but when his senior came to know about it, he swiftly swung into action and allegedly gave him half of the bribe money to hush it up on his level.
Sources said despite their best efforts, the duo could not keep the matter under the carpet. A probe had to be initiated by the SHO's senior after another senior officer called them up next morning and sought details of the alleged incident. The officer, however, started the probe himself, bypassing a district police officer, after he came to know that the SHO's senior too had received a share of the proceeds, sources alleged.
Efforts were now being made to weaken the case and save the 'accused' police officers. In their place, some cops were likely to be implicated in the alleged incident and punished under law.
The 'accused' police officers were also alleged to have done some homework to save themselves. The duo had convinced the locals to give a statement in their favour in case they were approached by senior police officers during the course of investigation into the incident, sources alleged.
