'Situation terrible and I am ashamed': Radha | Batting for India's disintegration | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 26: Pro-separatist, pro-Pakistan and anti-India forces have ganged up. They have seen in the present turmoil in Kashmir an opportunity to strike and dismember India by ensuring not just the separation of Kashmir Valley from India but also Jammu and Ladakh. They are all one as far as their support to Pakistan and Kashmiri separatists' demand seeking dialogue with Pakistan and Hurriyat leaders is concerned and their solutions range from Azadi to autonomy. Nothing short of this can end the turmoil in Kashmir, they have been asserting. Not a single so-called trouble-shooter or conflict-manager has talked about the aspirations, needs and compulsions of the people of Jammu and Ladakh and other communities, all victims of terrorism and fanaticism. They are so biased and communal in their approach. They only consider Kashmir and one particular community in Kashmir the sole factor. All others are irrelevant for them. Ironically, sections of powerful media too has swung solidly behind Kashmiri separatists and their target is New Delhi and security forces. Radha Kumar, former interlocutor on Jammu and Kashmir, who only two days ago condemned the security forces and extended her support to the Kashmiri separatists, on Monday came out with a solution that, according to her, could help restore peace in Kashmir and her solutions ranged from azadi of J&K to greater autonomy for the state. Radha asserted that "in Kashmir political aspirations range from Autonomy to Independence and the bottom-line of their report in 2010 laid special emphasis on holding a dialogue with all sections, including Azadi groups" (read Hurriyat, JKLF and similar other outfits). "Our report was shelved. Its key recommendations were not adopted. Those of the more immediate recommendations - for example, training in crowd control and use of non-lethal weapons - have obviously not been implemented properly. They met the same fate as that of Prime Minister's Working Group reports in 2006," she was quoted as saying. She added: "My overall impression (in 2010) was that the bottom-line for Kashmiris was to open a dialogue with all sections, especially the Azadi groups, to discuss political aspirations that ranged from autonomy/self-rule to independence". She didn't stop just there. She further reportedly said: "It is a terrible situation and I am ashamed. I have been glad to see that parliamentarians are calling for an immediate political dialogue, and end to the use of pellet guns and a rapid humanitarian response, but so much damage has been done already…We need both a temporary and a permanent peace, the first leading to the other. It is very difficult for talks to yield concrete results if they are held in an environment of violence. The urgent requirement is for a political dialogue to begin". What is all this going on? How is it that Radha and her ilk in Delhi and elsewhere are being allowed to preach secessionism? And where is the Indian political class? Why is it not taking on those who have ganged up against the Indian unity and virtually joined the Kashmiri secessionists? And what about the Jammu's political class? Why is it not reacting and putting things in perspective by saying Kashmir is not the state of J&K? And where are the BJPwallas who used to shout from the rooftops that they were for India, against separatism and for the nationalist people of Jammu and Ladakh? |
