Free LPG connection still an illusion for Rajouri BPL | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, July 26: Prime Minister ,Narendra Modi had launched Rs 8000 crores scheme to provide 5 crore free LPG connections to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families using the money saved from about 1.13 crore LPG users voluntarily gave up their subsidies but the BPL populace from Rajouri still is deprived of this ambitious centrally sponsored scheme till date. "To avail the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) hundreds of BPL families taking round of CA&PD and Deputy Commissioner's offices daily but all in vain, irked BPL families members said and alleged that in nexus with CA&PD officials many influential people (which don't fall in BPL category) have managed some blue eyed names in BPL category sidelining the genuine BPL families who go missing from the records as well as from the ration cards recently being prepared under National Food Security Act (NFSA). Recently members of these 50 families held protest demonstration on Monday infront of Office of Deputy Commissioner while demanding action against those officials involved in this nexus and to re-enter their families under BPL category. They also highlighted that People of Rajouri still are looking forward for the issuance of e-Ration Cards due to delay caused by causal approach of the CA&PD department in preparing the lists. Alleging discrepancies in the records, the protestors and even some locals raised objections saying when the provisional lists were released by the department in the months of March and April which were found incomplete which attracted protest from locals. "Taking cognizance the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri had directed the department to make necessary corrections but if the sources are believed the lists are still incomplete and carry many errors, some locals alleged. They further alleged, "Those despite having good source of income (government employees including police officers) have managed their names in the BPL category to get free LPG connection. "50-families of village Badhanoo which were under BPL category during 2011 census surprisingly got their names missing from the fresh lists prepared by the CA&PD officials under NFSA" said Manzoor Ahmed. "Not only the names of BPL families are missing from the lists prepared for e-Ration cards but the names of widows, handicapped too went missing while some influential have managed to egt their names enlisted to get benefit under NFSA & PMUY," alleged another villager Shabir Ahmed. Similarly, inhabitants of village Dhar Sakri alleged that the about 100 families were listed in the BPL category from their village since a long time. One Mushtaq Ahmed also hummed the similar tones and alleged there is a nexus between CA&PD and some Revenue officials, influential people who are getting their names under BPL category to get benefits under PMUY" When contacted Shabir Ahmed Bhat, Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri briefly said, "In 2011 Government of India had conducted Socio Economic & Cast Census (SE&CC) in association with local authorities and BPL categories were identified. He at the same time said that District administration had no role in preparing the data. |
