Jammu, July 26: In order to curb the excessive use of alcohol and drugs by youth at isolated places at highway and then indulging in rash driving leading to fatal accidents especially during weekends, Nagrota Police in a special drive cum awareness programme booked several persons under 36 Police Act (public inconvenience) who were found drunk and creating trouble for the locals and other visitors. Sources said, besides this police also made people aware about ill effects of drugs and excessive drinking, youngsters were made aware about the different provisions of law under which they can be booked for such activities at highway. Locals have appreciated this step of police and demanded that such drives should remain in force in near future also so as to create a calm and congenial atmosphere at tourist places during weekends. |
