25 yrs on, 3km road stretch from Medana to Seri Chouhana awaits for completion | | | Sarfraz Chak Early Times Report Poonch, Aug 2: It may sound bizarre but true, the Public Works Department (PWD) Poonch has failed to complete three kilometers road stretch from Medana to Seri Chouhana in 25 years. Mohammad Abas Malik , a local resident of village Seri Chouhana informed Early Times that state government has sanctioned link road from Medana to Seri Chouhana around two and half decade back under executing agency PWD but the lackadaisical approach of department concern the earth work of said road is still incomplete. Till date the executing agency only completes earth work one and half Kilometers. Malik further said that the village was situated around 15 kilometers away from district headquarters, many times people of Seri Chouhana and the adjoining villages urged the higher authority of PWD as well as Deputy Commissioner but all in vain, they only assured that the construction work of the road was initiated within months but years gone nothing has done at ground. "In the beginning of this year, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Surankote Mohammad Akram Choudhary had released Rs. 10 lakh for the construction of the road but surprising department concerned yet not started the construction of roads, best reason known to higher ups of department concerned", another resident Farooq Rather said. They all in voice appealed to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to direct district administration and agency concern to early resumption of their construction, so that people of the area do not suffer more. |
