70 transferred after 10 months, influential enjoy stay at choicest places | CEO Rajouri's teacher transfer order draws flak | | Akshay Azad Early Times Report jammu, Aug 2: Violating the transfer policy of state government, nearly seventy teachers in district Rajouri have reportedly been transferred after only 10 months of their posting in various schools, while more than fifty teachers 'allegedly influential' have been enjoying their stay at choicest postings for the last more than ten years, given their political influence. The Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri while denying the allegations said that transfers were done as per the decision taken in the District Development Board (DDB) meeting. Transferred teachers informed Early Times that the CEO Rajouri had transferred hundreds of teachers and a list was issued on August 1, according to which nearly 70 teachers were transferred prematurely, in total violation of transfer policy. According to transfer policy, the minimum stay of an employee at particular post is for two years and maximum of three years but nearly seventy newly appointed teachers, who had joined the department on 24th of September 2015, were transferred. "A total of 875 teachers had joined district Rajouri in September 2015, out of which, who have been enjoying strong political links or patronage of CEO office Rajouri were posted in the schools of their choice but rest were posted as per the whims of CEO office", a teacher said. He further alleged that it was only 10 months stay in their respective schools that 70 teachers were transferred. "We are not enjoying any political influence so have been prematurely transferred while there are nearly fifty political influential teachers or the clients of transfer industry players have been enjoying stay for the last more than ten years and are never transferred outside the city limits", another teacher alleged. The teachers alleged that CEO office had adopted pick and choose policy and refused to touch the influential teachers but non-influential teachers have been transferred as per their whims and fancies. They also alleged that after issuing the transfer order, CEO had taken leave of three days. Denying the allegations of transferred teachers, CEO Rajouri Altaf Choudhary said that a total of 1004 teachers were transferred. The transfer orders were issued as per the decision taken in the District Development Board (DDB) meeting. "In Rajouri we have been a large number of schools in zone-II where teachers refuse to go and people have been demanding teachers there. The issue was also raised in the DDB meeting after which a decision was taken and some youngest and newly promoted teachers have been posted in these schools on rotation basis for one year", CEO said. He further said that even after these transfers, still there were 300 posts vacant in the peripheral schools. "We have decided to post the teachers, who will soon join the department or rotation basis. After one year, these teachers will be returned back and those will be posted, who have so far not gone there", he said. Over the allegations of stay of some influential teachers, CEO said that most of overstaying teachers have been transferred and only the medically unfit (those who have medical certificate of Medical board) are posted in city areas. |
