Early Times Report

Anantnag, Aug 2: Taking undue advantage of Kashmir unrest, a dozen of influential people have started raising structures at Pahalgam despite High Court ban.
Sources said that as many as fifteen violators apparently backed by top politicians and bureaucrats have started constructing guest houses and hotels in Pahalgam.
Three such guesthouses are coming up at Aru Pahalgam.
They identified the violators as Mohd Shafie, Mohd Yousf Ganie, Mohd Ashraf Ganie all residents of Aru Pahalgam.
They said that all of the violators pretending to be constructed residential houses at Aru-mostly the area of wild life sanctuary-have sold their land to Srinagar residents and are raising the constructions in their behest.
Sources in PDA confirmed the construction of structures and revealed that many residents in Laripora Pahalgam are too taking undue advantage of current situation.
Earlier, Pahalgam Police has booked a PHE official and his father on the request of Pahalgam Development Authority for constructing a guest house in Batakoot village falling under the ambit of PDA.
Mudasir Ahmad Malik, Ghulam Rasool Malik residents of Gujran Batakoot and Sajad Ahmad Sheikh resident of Humhama Srinagar have been booked for violating Master Plan-2032, Development Authority Act 1970 and orders of High Court (PIL 484-2010).
Mudasir Ahmad Malik is working in PHE department as Assistant Engineer while his father Ghulam Rasool Malik is retried Accounts Officer of Pahalgam Development Authority.
A PDA official claimed that many senior officers including a Deputy Commissioner is trying hard to pressurize them so that dumping of construction material is allowed and they can raise the structures.
He said that land mafia and some locals are trying to vitiate atmosphere so that can raise illegal structures. "Two petrol bombs were hurled on our toll post," he claimed.
Pertinently in 2010 unrest and 2014 floods, influential people took undue advantage of situation and carried out massive constrictions.
CEO PDA, Mushtaq Ahmad Simani, when contacted admitted that a group of people were trying to take undue advantage of current situation; however he said that all their efforts will be scolded.
"We have initiated legal action against all the indentified violators and have asked Police to register cases against them," he said.
Jammu and Kashmir High Court has imposed a blanket ban on any sort of constructions in and around Pahalgam.
