Early Times Report

Srinagar, Aug 2: Barely three days after cavalcade of Education Minister, Naeem Akhtar came under the attack of stone pelting mob in North Kashmir's Bandipora district; unidentified persons attacked his residence with 'petrol bombs' here Tuesday.
Witnesses told 'Early Times' that some unidentified persons lobbed petrol bombs on Akhtar's Parraypora residence this morning however no one has been injured in the incident.
Pertinent to mention here that Akhtar had a close shave after his cavalcade came under the attack of stone pelting mob in Bandipora past week.
Protesters hurled stones at Akhtar's cavalcade as they had blocked the road with tree trunks and large stones to enforce the separatist shutdown.
Sources said that emergency police reinforcements were immediately rushed to rescue the minister from the protesters.
Reliable police sources while confirming today's attack said that Minister's residence at Parrypora in uptown Srinagar was attacked by miscreants with petrol bombs.
" Yes some unidentified persons whose search has been started, tossed two petrol bombs on Minister's residence this morning, no one was injured neither any major damage took place except for the main gate as he along with his family had already shifted to Gupkar for security reasons," said the official.
The official said that investigation has been taken up into the incident while search for miscreants responsible for the attack has also been started.
He said that one of the two petrol bombs landed in the house compound while another fell outside the main gate.
The official said that the attack on Minister's residence is the handiwork of local youth who according to him have been indulging in violent activities including stone pelting and enforcing shutdown in the area.
"We expect a major breakthrough soon and all the miscreants involved in the attack will be dealt sternly," the official told this newspaper.
