Jammu Aug 6 : If the state of mind of the workers and cadres across Jammu region is an indicator, then the party is in for real trouble.
The workers are a distraught lot, this time over consecutive goof ups by none other than the top leader over his recent statements. The latest whimper in the party office is ‘ultimatum’ by the workers either wind up the party or replace the top leader who has become a constant source of tension for them.
In a do or die situation for the workers of BJP, it is becoming increasingly difficult to handle the public anger over continuous statements of the top leader on Kashmir situation and the role of security forces in Burhan Wani killing. While these statements have become fodder for opposition parties which have raked it up to hilt, burning effigies of the BJP leader the workers and cadres of BJP are worried and harried on some other fronts too. Sources said both within the two offices of party as also from outside through phone calls and personal meetings, the public is pouring anger against the senior BJP minister for his stances utterly damaging for the party image.
Sources said having felt pestered by resentment of people and supporters of the party in areas where party enjoyed huge support, the workers are describing it as high point of BJP’s waning popularity.
While annoyance was already there against him at various levels in the party for a number of reasons in the past pushing further the sentiment of his replacement, this time it is open and loud, sources said adding that the workers have conveyed to quarters that matter their predicament while they are asking for alternative.
Attributing public wrath and anti BJP sentiment to the senior BJP leader's utterings coupled with his non assertive posturing on matters and issues related to Jammu and allowing the government to take unilateral decisions that have gone against Jammu, while the top BJP leader is in centre stage of controversies once again, the real issue is that there is no suitable alternative at present who could replace and do some damage control in retrieving BJP’s popularity and image, sources said .
On the other hand, many in the party are wondering if the resentment and anger against the BJP leader has reached all time high low, what is the compulsion of the leadership in making him stay on the chair. Is RSS lobby strongly backing him so strong and above the survival of the party, sources said as the whimper in the office.
