Two killed two other critically injured in Thanamandi mishap | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Aug 6: In a tragic road accident near Thanamandi town in Rajouri district two youth were killed while other two including driver sustained critical injuries while one among them has been referred to Government Medical College and Hospital ((GMC&H) at Jammu for specialized treatment. According to police sources, the accident took place at about 2 pm when a Tata Sumo in which they were travelling in skidded off the road due to heavy rain near village Bhatian. Police said that ten inhabitants of village Bhatian and Bada Kana had hired a Tata Sumo vehicle to pay obeisance at famous shrine of Baba Ghulam Shah at village Shahdra. "At about 1 pm all the persons returned back and six among them got down from the vehicle near Bhatian village while other four including driver left to drop others at other place, sources said. "As the vehicle reached near Bada Kana village the driver lost control while negotiating a sharp curve as the vehicle slipped due to heavy rain and fell in the deep gorge" said police while quoting an eye witness. Sources said the locals rushed to the spot to rescue the injured and also informed the police. A police party lead by SDPO, Thanamandi rushed to the spot along with army personnel and began rescued operation. POlice sources said that Ishfaq Ahmed s/o Abdul Rashid and Mohd Shabir s/o Mohd Rafiq both residents of village Bhatian died on the spot while driver Danish Ahmed r/o Badakana and Mohd Tahir s/o Mohd Taj of Bhatian sustained critical injuries and later were shifted to District Hospital Rajouri. Meanwhile police after completing legal formalities handed over the bodies to the family members for last rites of deceased. Police have registered a case and started further investigations. |
