Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 10: With inept handling of situation arising out of elimination of local militant known as poster boy last month, the situation in Valley continues to go from bad to worse.
Halal Ahmed, who landed in Jammu travelling at night and looked frightened narrated his tale of woes saying that the government is only in name with no governance visible on ground and total chaos and confusion is prevailing which appears to be the order of the day.
He said that from morning, the groups of hooligans resort to stone pelting, blocking roads in broad day light with impunity till they get dead tired and retire to their homes at night. During this period, the government agencies meant to maintain law and order in trouble torn areas seem in a state of haplessness and nearly helpless during day to exert and evince their authority with local police afraid of facing public giving a look of disgruntled lot.
A local taxi driver Din Mohammad, whose whole family banks upon his earnings visibly looked shocked and said that he is sitting idle after eruption of unrest in Kashmir and whole day the locals do not allow the private and other transport to ply on the road. He said that the government appears to have been rendered almost ineffective which has absolutely failed to reign in on protesters and stone pelters running their own regime illegally.
He added that only after these leaderless hooligans go back to their villages late at night, the vehicles start plying on roads at their own risk and responsibility with no guarantee of life from the side of administration. Is this called good governance by public representatives whom people voted to power for living in peace, he questioned.
A government employee in Kashmir pleading anonymity told that since last month, the supply of essential commodities is getting depleted with no regular replenishment and few shopkeepers dealing with these items are indulging into hoardings and finding time, they are allegedly earning huge profits and selling eatables on their own sweet will.
He said that the role of CAPD is awfully missing adding to woes of common masses there who are being subjected to overcharging in the open market with no check whatsoever puncturing the claims of BJP Minister holding CAPD portfolio for smooth civil supplies in the state given to media the other day.
Kashmir watcher Pardeep Chauhan said that the unrest started was at a low key in the beginning with intelligence agencies seemed to have no inputs of impending grievous situation reaching a point of immense complications from where it would be very difficult to come out easily unless multi-prone strategy is devised to handle the perplex situation in the valley.
He said that the peaceful atmosphere of Kashmir vitiated by the separatists as usual in summer, when the tourists season starts picking up speed, has of late gone out of their hands with miscreants ruling the roast to taunt and terrorize whosoever comes in their way and the government wings are unable to control them and their will power to create terror in the minds of those who virtually wish it to come at a grinding halt at least for God's sake, he added.
Sadiq Mohd, a Medical Practitioner disclosed that the anger of general public in Kashmir is growing day by day against the dispensation with many literally fed up and want that the fuelled situation be controlled as early as possible before it gets too late. Majority of people living in the state believe that it is an integral part of India which cannot be segregated come what may and some tangible solution be thought out and applied once for all to save valley from the clutches of anti national elements, he added.
He said that the need of the hour unequivocally demands that Government of India headed by BJP leaders should come forward and divulge cards close to its chest for bringing normalcy, peace and prosperity for which the people are eagerly waiting to dawn soon because enough is enough and using force will further snowball the already fuelled situation towards a point of no return which needs to be taken care of, he cautioned .
