Early Times Report

Sunderbani, Aug 10: Having tasted success in Jammu and Kashmir after the Independence, the Bharatiya Janata Party that has come into power in the state seems to be either a lost brigade or moving vociferously fast to devour into corrupt practices.
Few days back Early Times covered a comprehensive inside details about the BJP ministers and MLAs having indulged in corrupt practices through the power development department in managing illegal power connections in tehsil Sunderbani of district Rajouri for their close aides, relatives and kin while sending the entire department into huge loses.
It was reported that some of the close confidants of the BJP ministers and MPs had taken the illegal connection and have been getting the electricity supply for cluster homes of their relatives without paying any bills to the departments.
Early Times cracked the story and brought this into the knowledge of the government appealing the chief minister Mehbooba to take the cognizance of the theft.
But, BJP itself into the government, no significant action was reported.
However, in a new revelation, again a senior BJP leader in tehsil Sunderbani and village Nohoti came under the PDD scanner and was caught on the wrong foot.
Nearly 1000 meter of the heavy duty wire was recovered from his home.
The PDD sleuths headed by the Assistant Executive Engineer Ajeet Singh conducted a raid at the premises of the said BJP leader at Nohoti and recovered nearly 12000 meters of the electric wire which the department took into its custody.
While a commotion got built up in the village over the thievery by the BJP leader , the interesting part to the whole episode was that since the department took into the possession , the illegal wire, it however did not filed any complaint in the police station and did not get any FIR registered against the culprit.
When this correspondent reached the office of the AEE, he was subjected to some astonishing statement given by the department.
" Yes, some 500-600 meters of the wire was found from the premises of the culprit which belonged to the PDD department ," admitted the AEE Ajeet Singh.
He however refrained from answering the query as to why an FIR was not slapped against the erring BJP leader.
"It is the duty of the Junior engineers to look into the misconduct into the departments and see whether all stock is properly maintained or not. This was an apparent fault of the JE," the AEE Ajeet Singh said.
The Junior Engineer Roshan Lal when contacted gave a stupefying answer too. "Should we look after the department's work or go house by house to search the wires placed in the peoples' homes," said JE Roshan Lal which was quite a rude answer.
It is pertinent to mention here, as also have been reported in the earlier ET story, that all administrative works in the tehsil Sunderbani are controlled by the BJP high-ups that have ruined the administrative structure of the district.
