Jammu, Aug 10: A youth was allegedly beaten up by cops inside a police post here and then booked in a 'fake' case for raising his voice against the injustice done to a village family at the instance of a member of the local panchayat. In a written complaint submitted in the court of judicial magistrate (sub-judge), Jammu, Vicky Angurana of Ranjit Pura, Gole Gujral, alleged that he was illegally detained by cops at the police post. "I was summoned by the SI to the police post. When I reached there, he and the munshi abused and thrashed him mercilessly," he alleged in his complaint and said he was beaten by a total of seven cops. "I received an injury on the forehead and fell unconscious inside the lock-up. The cops then shifted me in a private car to Sarwal Hospital from where I was referred to to GMCH, where doctors conducted several tests on me and also got done my CT-Scan and X-ray," Vicky, who is running an NGO - Dr B R Ambedkar Young Blood Welfare Society, said. He alleged that he was booked in a false case under sections 107 and 151 of CrPC for raising voice against a panchayat member, who, with alleged connivance of police, had forcibly constructed a road on a private land against the consent of its owners. The SI had entered the house of Jagdish Kumar on July 15, 2016 along with three policemen and trashed him and his wife for raising their voice against the panchayat member, Vicky alleged. Taking cognizance of his complaint, the sub-judge had on August 3, 2016 directed SDPO, Domana, to conduct inquiry into the allegations. "SDPO, Domana, is directed to conduct enquiry to check the credentials of allegation and submit report on September 12, 2016", the court order says. |
