Daily wager runs Dhara Fatehpur water lift scheme | | | Rajesh Tandon Early Times Report
Poonch, Aug 10: Public Health Engineering (PHE) department after completion of a long period of ten years and crore of rupees investment has failed to complete Dhara Fatehpur water lift scheme. Sources from local areas told Early Times that the scheme has six supply tanks which supply drinking water to Dhara, Moharban, Danna Dhakran and Fatehpur, but due to negligence of district administration especially PHE department the scheme has turned defunct. Interestingly there is no supervisor of department who could supervise the scheme, as there is a huge blunder in funds and no one is taking risk to take the charge as supervisor. Sarcastically a daily wager PHE employee has been given the charge of supervisor. While on complaints of many locals, this reporter after visiting the site came across that all the money invested for the said project has been embezzled by the department. He said all that stations of the scheme are not functioning. A local said that the department provide water once in a month up to second stage of the scheme after that all remains defunct. Another local surprisingly informed Early Times that there is only one Junior Engineer and a daily wager as staff on ground while eighty percent of them remain absent from their duties. Locals along with some panches and senior citizens have demanded inquiry in this matter. |
