Crackdown against sand mafia , one tipper seized 9/6/2016 11:16:13 PM Early Times Report Bhaderwah, Sept 06: On the direction of Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Doda, SDM Bhaderwah Mohd Anwar Banday today launched a crackdown against the sand mafia and seized one tipper being used in illegal ferrying of the sand in Bheja area near Neeru river which is a hot bed for illegal sand mining activities. Giving details about the drive Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Bhaderwah , Mohd Anwar Bnaday, said," we (officials) were getting complaints from locals of Sartingal , Bheja , Sherakhi , Badrote and Katyara villages in regard to the illegal excavation of sand. Locals of these areas were having apprehensions of likelihood of landslides due to unnecessary and over excavation of sand from the river basin, "Moreover these sand mafias don't have any permission from concerned authorities," the official said, adding that in this regard prompt action was taken and he alongwith his team seized one tipper. He also informed that police have also constituted a special team in keeping check on the illegal excavation and added the drive against the sand mafia will continue in future too. "We (administration) have initiated a drive against illegal mining while sand found illegally dumped was seized and a case in this regard too stands registered.
