Sincere people punished, corrupt promoted | JU sidelines architect of UIET programme | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 6: Jammu University's administration, often in news for wrong reasons, has now sidelined a competent professor who was earlier assigned the task of establishing a University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) programme. A document in possession of Early Times reveals that in 2013, the university authorities nominated Prof. Naresh Padha as Coordinator of the UIET programme vide notification 13/July/Gen/24 issued under endorsement No:F.CD/1/13/3332-42 Dated 8-7-2013. "He was assigned the duties of coordinator during the tenure of the then Vice Chancellor of Jammu University for doing spade work and working out all nitty-gritty related to this programme before the UIET is launched in Kathua", said a source. Accordingly, the professor competently coordinated, and on the orders of the then VC, he visited different institutes like University of Punjab, Institute of Technology, Chandigarh, IIT Ropar, Kurkshetra, Gurukul, Kangra, Haridwar universities. Sources said that after doing the needful, Prof Padha prepared the vision document which visualizes the number of streams to be initially started in the institute. Five streams are to be started. They are Civil Engineering, Electronic and ECE Engineering, Computer Sciences, and Mechanical Engineering. Sources said that recently a team of officers headed by Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education, Govt of Jammu and Kashmir visited Janglote, Kathua, but the university authorities deliberately sidelined Prof. Padha instead of allowing him to accompany the inspecting team. "Professor Padha is a competent and sincere officer. He believes in calling a spade a spade. It is the habit of the VC to discourage good officers like Prof Padha and encourage sycophants", the sources added. |
