Tainted Officers 'planted' in premier investigation agency | Bid to scuttle ongoing inquiries | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 6: A senior police officer has allegedly succeeded in getting his 'karyakhas' inspector transferred to a premier investigation agency of the State where inquiry into cases against the senior police officer is going on. Interestingly, the said inspector is also facing multiple inquiries of corruption by the same premier investigation agency of the State where, ironically, he has been recently transferred by the PHQ raising serious question mark on the functioning of PHQ itself. The said tainted inspector attained notoriety during his posting in one of the fertile wings of J&K Police where he would collect share from monthly proceed from all his colleagues in Jammu Province at the behest of his mentor. Despite pending inquiries against him, his Wing was changed and he was shifted to a premier investigating agency of the State. Interestingly, the said premier agency has its own scrutiny mechanism and before posting of any official or officer to the investigation agency, the department scrutinizes the track record of the official to maintain the sanctity of the department where honesty, integrity and personal conduct is prerequisite, at least on papers. If sources are to be believed, the said inspector was not interested in his new place of posting but his boss put his all efforts to post him in the premier investigating agency. Sources have further revealed that none of the three SPs heading the respective wings has given the name of said inspector for his posting at the premier agency. "Motive behind the transfer of the Inspector was just to keep track on the inquiry initiated in the investigation agency against the said senior police officer and his close relatives and family friends", said a police officer pleading anonymity. He further said that with the transfer of a tainted police officer in the investigation agency, the agency cannot maintain secrecy and it will further erode the credibility of the premier investigating agency in public eye. |
