Srinagar, Sept 6: As recommendations of all-party delegation are likely to be finalized in the meeting to be chaired by Home Minister in New Delhi tomorrow, ET has learnt that the dominant view of the delegation was that the centre and state government must stop the facilities meted out to the separatist leaders. Reliable sources informed early TIMES on Tuesday that the ideas floated in the delegation after returned to New Delhi was that the centre and the state government must stop facilities to separatists including, air tickets, hotel and taxi services during foreign tours, medical treatment, among other things.
Sources said that some leaders have also opined that the security cover should be removed from the separatist leaders.
At present, 1000 cops are on duty to guard the separatist leaders. "It has been suggested that only those political activists facing genuine threat in the valley should be given the security cover," sources close to the delegation maintained.
Notably the separatist leaders including Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yaseen Malik refuse to talk with the leader of all party delegation in Srinagar.
Meanwhile sources claimed that the centre government Tuesday also asked the Jammu and Kashmir government to revise the "soft policy" towards separatists. "Centre is also of the opinion that despite their 'anti-National activities', the separatists were enjoying special privileges, including security cover provided by the state government,"
Sources claimed that the top leadership in the centre has said, "All these incidents are taking place at the instigation of separatists. These separatists are continuously disturbing the peace in valley, which cause harm to the common masses,"
Sources said that intelligence agencies have also cautioned the centre government that the situation might worsen if hard steps are not taken in the valley.
Report provided to the MHA have revealed that Rs 309 crore was spent on the salary of guards of separatists and Rs 150 crore on the salary of PSOs since 2010-11. MHA has informed Central leadership that state government bears all the hotels, security bills of Huriiayat. "If these leaders will meet Pakistani High commissioner in New Delhi, the expenditure will be added to State's account. In totality, Jammu and Kashmir Government spent a whopping sum of over Rs 506 crore rupees on these leaders in last five years," the report has said.
