Early Times Report

srinagar, Sept 6: With no letup in violence in Kashmir for the last two months, the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti here on Tuesday came down heavily on the separatist leadership accusing them of provoking poor children to street protests whereas their own kids are settled in the best cities of the world.
Addressing people while inaugurating the launch of the Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA) scheme, Mehbooba in a veiled attack on separatists said they provoke children to execute Chalo calls. "They provoke poor children to attack (security forces)," Mehbooba said.
"While their own kids are settled at places like Malaysia, Dubai and Bangalore, they are making others' children suffer. If you quote me one instance where their own children were hit during the protests, I will quit politics. I believe in simple, straight talk though I am criticized for this," she said.
The CM said the separatists were "scared of police" and thus don't sit back at their homes at night. "They keep moving here and there only to instigate violence through poor children. Why don't they stay back at their respective homes," she said.
"This Tehreek has surpassed Tameez," she said in an emotional tone, adding people who venture out of homes are ridiculed at by the mobs.
She said some forces have been hell bent for criticism of her party and its founder late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, who worked for peace and prosperity in the state.
Referring to her years of ground work in volatile villages of south Kashmir, she said that time cynics argued "why militants were not targeting me and even labeled me of being linked to militants."
Referring to youth resorting to stone pelting, she spoke passionately saying "Basically these children out on streets have been my support. When they were kids they would accompany me to far off places whereas now the same kids have grown up and are being provoked."
She appealed the people to give her time to restore law and order so that Kashmir is put back on the path of peace and prosperity.
Ministers, and PDP leaders including Syed Naeem Akhter Andrabi, Syed Bashrat Bukhari, Syed Altaf Bukhari and Khurshid Aalam keenly listened to her words.
Amid applauds from the audience, she concluded her speech with Urdu couplet: "Raat Jitni Bhi Sangeen Hogi, Subah Utni He Rangeen Hogi."
In his speech Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh who is also the Power minister said the launch of the Ujala scheme in Kashmir, consumers will be able to buy high quality LED bulbs at a discounted rate of Rs 20 each. He said the government was committed for the peace and prosperity in the state and to light up their lives.
