JAMMU, Sept 6: Abhi Gupta, Vidit Gawri and Ishuk Chowdhary today qualified for the semifinals of the senior snooker event in the ongoing 24th Jammu District Billiards and Snooker Championship at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here. In the quarterfinals, played today, Abhi defeated Nikhil Kapahi in straight frames of 47-38, 45-15, 53-44 while Vidit trounced Rizwan Ahmed 3-1 (42-29, 70-54, 25-58, 64-52). In other quarterfinal, Ishuk outplayed Abhishek 3-2 ( 49-46, 19-56, 32-61, 62-10, 53-43) in a close contest. Earlier, in a pre-quarterfinal round match, Arjun Sharma beat Muwqudar 3-1 (82-31, 68-26, 52-56, 63-45) and Ishuk downed Sharander Singh 3-1 (54-40, 56-54, 69-81, 51-30). Meanwhile, in first round of the Junior Billiards event, Padam Gupta beat Umang gupta 2-0 (50-24, 50-40) and Mannik Sharma beat Basit Wani 2-1 (38-51, 52-42, 50-18). |
