Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 6 : In a petition challenging the selection of house surgeons in Dental College, Jammu, high court judge Dhiraj Singh Thakur today quashed the entire list. Justice Thakur, after hearing the two sides, observed that the selection and appointment of private respondents by the principal of Indira Dental College, Jammu, as stipendiary house surgeons required to be quashed in its entirety being contrary to the May 20, 2016 advertisement notification and the government orders reflected therein. He directed the respondents to draw a fresh select list discipline-wise on the basis of merit. "Based upon merit, they should invite preferences in each discipline from the candidates. This may be done through counseling. It would, however, be open to the official respondents, if they so choose, to associate SSRB or PSC to seek help from them for the purpose of conducting the selection and counseling process and also seek their advice on those issues," he said. However, the final decision would be taken by the official respondents themselves. "The entire process be completed preferably within a period of two weeks from today. Looking to the fact that the petitioner has been dragged into this litigation unnecessarily, cost of Rs 25,000 is allowed in her favour, which shall be paid within two weeks," the court directed.
