HC directs Gandhi Nagar SHO to file status report or appear in person | Disapperance of girl since 2014 | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 6: In a habeous corpus petition, high court judge Tashi Rabstan today directed the SHO of Gandhi Nagar police station to file the status report or appear in person. The petitioner's counsel submitted that one Renu was forcibly taken away by the respondents in 2014 and since then, her whereabouts were not known. The petitioner apprehended that her daughter might have been sold out to some one or murdered by the respondents. The petitioner has also approached National Commission for Women, New Delhi, Human Rights Commission and higher police officials a number of times, but till today nothing had been done to trace the girl. He alleged that even her religion had been changed. Renu alias Ruksar Begum (name changed) had not been seen by any one since August 2014 and there was every apprehension that she might have been murdered by the respondents and the alleged lackadaisical approach of police was further worsening the things. Observing that despite the lapse of more than 11 months, police had not filed the status report, The court directed the Gandhi Nagar police station SHO to file the status report within two weeks with respect to the action taken till today, failing which he had to appear in person on next date of hearing.
