Miscreants set ablaze I&FC Deptt building in Baramulla S Tahir-ul Haq 9/6/2016 11:46:12 PM Early Times Report Baramulla, Sept 6: A building of Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) department was set ablaze today by some miscreants in Khawajabagh area of Baramulla. The building housed two divisions of FC&I-Flood Mechanical Division (FMD) and Mechanical Irrigation Division. During the intervening night of Sep 5 and 6, devastating fire in the building was seen at around 12:10 am, said sources. They said the fire seemed the handiwork of some miscreants who want to create trouble in the area, as this is the only district in Kashmir valley which has remained relatively peaceful during the ongoing agitation. Important official records, like service books and contracts of contractors and furniture were destroyed in the fire. Also lost was record of hundreds of casual labourers. These labourers were to be regularised in the coming months. Meanwhile, the Executive Engineer of the division, Afaq Ahmad, told Early Times that the building was set ablaze by some unknown persons. The fire services and police were informed about the incident. They doused the flames and controlled the fire from extending to the nearby buildings, Afaq said. He said that police has registered a case in this regard and are investigating the matter.
