Not paid for four months, Package employees allege Govt apathy | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 6: PM package employees are in deep anguish against the Government alleging its callous attitude towards them. The hapless employees who are on protest for last over 100 days are demanding their adjustment outside the Kashmir Valley in view of the prevailing unrest and are reluctant to join their duties under the prevailing situation in Kashmir since the killing of dreaded terrorist Burhan Wani on July 8 this year. The Government instead of settling the problems of the hapless employees who fled from Valley during the night for the safety and security, have accused the State Government of turning a blind eye to their genuine demand. These employees said that they have been betrayed by the Government which has not taken the issue of their safety and security seriously right from the day of Burhan's killing. The Government failed to provide security to migrant quarters in Valley where the employees were camping due to which they were subjected to attack by frenzied mob. The employees said that they are unable to return under prevailing circumstances as the ground situation is deteriorating in Valley day by day. But the State Government has failed to view the problem in humanitarian way. The Government has not even released the salaries of these employees till date for last four months on the plea that these employees have not attended their duties for last four months. Sources said the employees in Valley have been paid their salaries while the salaries of package employees have been stopped despite the fact that offices and schools are not functioning in Valley for last four months. These employees while questioning the Government role said when the salaries of employees in Valley were released why not of package employees who have also been served the show cause notice. The authorities instead of settling the problems of these employees are harassing them every now and then which has generated a lot of resentment among the Kashmiri Pandits. |
