Conflict along borders may worsen peace of heart: Dr. Sushil

Jammu, Nov 6: Reiterating his resolute to reduce the burden of cardiovascular diseases among the common populace, Dr. Sushil Sharma (HOD, Cardiology, GMC, Jammu) along with team of doctors and volunteers reached Khour to asses number of families taking temporary refuge in Radha Swami Satsang Ashram leaving their hearth and home due to ceasefire violation across border. More than 500 people were examined and free medicines were given as per the requirement.
Dr. Sushil observed that the turbulence along the border does not let the residents breathe sigh of relief and repeated violation of ceasefire further push them to a situation which is full of stress, fear and unpredictable suffering due to border violence. The prevailing uncertainty of life is the main cause of prevailing stress among the inhabitants of this border belt.
As stress, hypertension and rhythm disturbance were very high among the patients examined in the camp, Dr Sushil said that there are thousands of people living along the border of Jammu and Kashmir who are facing the harsh realities of life just being border residents.
He also shared that being resident of border town (Poonch) he himself is well acquainted with the pain and suffering faced by the border residents. He also elaborated that such stressful life situations contributes to heart diseases. The risk like high blood pressure, cholesterol levels, smoking and High level of Stress further add to worrisome situation among the Border Residents.
He advised people not to take too much alcohol or smoke cigarettes under the misconception to manage their chronic stress instead, these habits can further increase blood pressure and may also damage wall of the arteries. There is a positive co relation between stress and heart diseases, he added.
Dr Sushil admired the residents of the area and migrant families for being bold and courageous despite looming uncertainty and unpredictability in their life.
Among others who were part of this courageous and humanitarian move to provide succor in this extreme hour of need to the border residents along with Dr Sushil Sharma include Dr. Sushant Sharma, Dr Dhaneshwar Kapoor, Dr. Anitipal singh, Dr. Chakshu Mahajan .
Paramedics and volunteers who accompanied include Kamal Kishore, Kashmiri Lal, Ashish Soni, Gaurav Sharma, Harvinder Singh, Vikas Sabharwal Rajkumar, Bunty Digra, Mohd. Sajjad, Suresh Sharma, Rajiv Vohra, Rohit khajuria and Vikas Kumar.
