Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 6: Manmohan Singh President All India Jat Mahasabha J&K today toured several border villages of Ramgarh sector namely Rangoor,Chak Babrial, Nangah, Jerada, Swankha migrant camp, where border disturbances have disrupted residents lives. He was accompanied by other senior Jat leaders Sham Lal, Capt.Gopal Sandhu, Ch.Rashpal Singh,Ch.Surjeet Singh, Mohan Singh Bhatti, Rakesh, Darshan, Raj kumar and some others.
Loss of cattle and agricultural lands was a huge loss but innocent kids dying due to border firing is too much to bear for anyone.
Border situation goes from bad to worse in no time and these border area residents are the bearers of the repercussions. Attempts to retaliate ceasefire violations of Pakistan and surgical strikes done by Indian Army are very commendable but the consequences of these are faced by these people alone.
Manmohan Singh said that such losses cannot be covered. It is the responsibility of the Govt and authorities to think about Border residents in this situation and to formulate measures to prevent this kind of bloodbath and cover the losses incurred on these people during firing. On being injured these people must be treated on Govt's expense and the loss of losing their cattle in firing must be covered by Govt i.e; they must be paid minimum RS.50000 per animal, monetary compensation to injured and those permanently handicapped and minimum of Rs 5 lakhs per person for a family who loses along with the provision of Govt Job for one member of that family.
The job must be made criteria free for these people under SRO 43 and they must be given skill training to make it easier for them to get and do their jobs.
It must be the responsibility of Govt to provide safe shelter to these people as an alternative during such time, we have always demanded 5 Marla plot for every border area family at safer place and the Govt should understand the plight of these residents seriously. Ch.Manmohan Singh requested the authorities to check on the situation and to access the damages caused to these people and to compensate them for the losses they are suffering. People who suffered loss in R.S.Pura are still waiting for any kind of help.
Manmohan Singh has visited the injured in hospitals before also and he requested everyone to sympathize with these people and come forward to help them as much as possible.
