6 yrs on, JK Cements ruled by officials from SICOP | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 7: With the Jammu and Kashmir cements Ltd is facing tough challenge for its survival from many years now, J&K Government's wrong policies towards its betterment and revival has left the corporation in shambles. Surprisingly the corporation has been ruled by non technical officials particularly brought only from JK SICOP. Sources revealed to Early Times that despite the government should have appointed technical officials as Managing Director, the government surprisingly appointed non-technical officials as Managing Directors of a particular corporation, JK SICOP from last six years thus threatening its very existence. The insiders have raised serious concern about the future of the corporation. While expressing concern over the Government's decision's to appoint non-professional officials to head the corporation one of the employee wished anonymity said, "The rules say that only a professional who would be a Mechanical Engineer can only head the corporation. But we have seen from last six years only non technical officers and that too from Jammu Kashmir SICOP are appointed as Managing Directors". Sources said that instead of giving the charge of MD to some eligible official, the government recently appointed an unsuitable officer (who is overstaying on deputation for years together) to administer the corporation. Sources said that the post of MD JK cements fell vacant in January this year, when its Managing Director, was attached by the government in the administration department and was later subsequently demoted. "Accordingly as per the government order no 01-IND of 2016, the government has asked one of the deputed General Managers from JK SICOP in J&K cements Limited to look after the work of Managing Director in addition to his own duties till a suitable arrangement is made, but since then the government has failed to appoint new MD," one of the insider said. Insiders further lamented about the JK cements detorating condition said that it was the year 2011 when Jk cements took an ugly turn as the government deputed one the official from JK SICOP as Managing Director," sources said and added that not only this the other low grade officers including one of the non technical official managed his entry from JK SICOP in JK cements and got series of illegal promotions," insiders said. Sources further told Early TIMES that it was ending December when the term of extension of the former MD was ended and the government instead of appointing a technical official as MD gave additional charge of JK cements to Managing Director JK SICOP. Sources said that the government did not stop only on bringing officers of SICOP, the eligible officers of JK cements in the cadre of GM, DGM were sidelined and the junior officers were patronized on the line of Divide and Rule policy. Source said after three months the government picked another non technical SICOP official and appointed him as Managing Director JK cements. Sources further said that the whole policy of government proved disastrous for the company. |
