BJP ministers entertain power brokers; forget martyrs, their families | Fail to get cabinet order implemented | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 7: Exactly 21 days have passed when state cabinet decided to grant ex-gratia to the Next of Kin (NoK) of the Army and paramilitary forces personnel of J&K, who attain martyrdom in or outside the state, but nothing has been done on the ground to get the order implemented as BJP ministers are busy entertaining power brokers. Neither ex-gratia nor process to give compensatory jobs has been initiated to the NoKs of the martyrs' till date. The decision is by and large beneficial for the families of martyrs of Jammu but the representatives of the Jammu region in the Cabinet have failed expedite the process. Instead of expediting the process to get ex-gratia released for the martyrs families of Uri terror attack, Jammu's representatives in the government appear to the more concerned about preparing transfer lists of the their respective departments. Families of martyrs are hoping that BJP ministers in the coalition government would get the Cabinet decision implemented with immediate effect but they (ministers) are appear to be so busy with their assignments with businessmen and power brokers that they are unable to spare time for martyrs. On October 14, the State Government had decided to extend benefits to families of Army and Para-Military force personnel of Jammu and Kashmir, who attain martyrdom in the State or outside at par with the Police personnel martyred in JK. This decision was taken only after media carried out the stories on the plight of Army and para-military personnel of J&K, martyred within the State or outside, whose families were denied any kind of benefits by the State Government including jobs to NoK on compassionate grounds under SRO-43. Government decided that families of all Army and Para-Military personnel, hailing from Jammu and Kashmir and martyred within the State or outside, would get Rs 15 lakh cash relief and a Government job under SRO-43, as is given to Jammu and Kashmir Police martyrs. Presently, the families of martyrs of Army and paramilitary force personnel, hailing from J&K, were given only Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia by the State Government only if they were killed in J&K at par with civilians killed by the militants while the families of those killed outside J&K were given nothing-neither cash nor Government job. |
