At GMC&H, victims of Pak firing face problems | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 7: Despite strict instructions to administration of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu by the government to make all arrangements to treat border firing victims, the hospital has failed to deliver. The claims of GMC&H Jammu have been exposed by family members of martyr Gurnam Singh as well as relatives of 14-months-old Pari, as their families have accused the GMC&H of not providing them required facilities. "GMC&H Jammu doesn't have enough manpower to run a number of operation theaters (OTs). Two OTs are being used by the doctors while the rest remain utilized due to non-seriousness of the administration towards emergency cases," sources stated. "All road accidents and border firing cases are being treated in the two OTs," they said. Pertinently, more than 100 ceasefire violations along the LoC in J&K have taken place after the surgical strike on militant camps in Pakistan. More than 18 people, including civilians, have been killed and nearly 90 injured in Pakistani shelling and firing along IB and LoC in Jammu so far. Sources said there is an urgent need to start trauma centres to cater to the road accidents cases across Jammu. Due to non-functioning of the centres, the patients have to wait for their turn. "It shows the administration of the hospital is least bothered about providing all medical facilities to the victims," sources said. Moreover, sources said the victims are forced to arrange drugs from markets, exposing the claims of Health Minister that all drugs are being provided to the border firing victims free in the hospital. |
