Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 7: A revenue officer, posted in a tehsil of Jammu district, has attained notoriety for being arbitrary in his working. Alleged to be unrestrained and autocratic in the use of authority, he has thrown all norms to the winds while allowing illegal colonies and other unlawful constructions to come up in the tehsil. He belongs to Jammu and is posted in the tehsil for the past nearly five years. Though allegations have piled up against him, the government has not bothered to either order a probe into them or transfer him to other place. No one can raise any construction in the tehsil without 'meeting' him. He ordered to stop a construction work that was in progress on the main tehsil road some time back. He also issued a notice to the party, citing various sections of law. The work remained suspended for a month or so, but after the party 'met' him, the illegal became legal and the party was allowed to re-start work, official sources alleged. "After his posting in the tehsil about five years back, he joined hands with colonisers and property dealers," sources alleged, adding that he had fixed a rate for issuing 'fards' and other revenue documents in the tehsil. Sources alleged that he also 'demands money from his subordinates for signing the files which they submit in his office'. "Not only this, he has allowed colonies to come up on the land which otherwise can't be sold as per a state government order," sources alleged. Though complaints against him had been made from time to time by locals to his senior officers, any action was yet awaited. Sources alleged that on the eve of Diwali, he had given costly gifts to his senior officers. "No action is being taken against him because he enjoys the blessings of his seniors," sources alleged. |
