Pak opened new front, violates ceasefire in Machil sector | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 7 Pakistani troops today opened new front, violated 2003 ceasefire in Machil sector in the frotier district of Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir, a defence ministry spokesman said. Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing, targeting forward posts on the Line of Control (LoC) in Machil sector today, Col Rajesh Kalia told He said Indian troops also retaliated and the exchange of fire continued for some time. No one was injured on this side of the LoC, he said. Residents of Machil said panic gripped in the entire border town when shells fired by Pakistani troops exploded on this side of the border. People took shelter in their houses and other safe places during the shelling. We were praying for peace between the two countries, they said adding they were living a near normal peaceful life since India and Pakistan agreed for a ceasefire in 2003. There were minor ceasefire violations but todays shelling was heavy, they added and said fortunately no one was injured. Pakistani troops have been violation ceasefire on International Border (IB) and LoC in Jammu region daily. |
