Bovine smuggling bid in Samba | | | Early Times Report Samba, Nov 7: Samba Police today claimed to have foiled a major Bovine smuggling bid late last night with the rescuing of 12 bovine being smuggled in inhumane conditions. Police have launched massive manhunt to nab the bovine smugglers who managed to escape from the spot while abandoning the vehicle by taking advantage of darkness during night. Police spokesperson said, during the night intervening a surprise naka was laid by Police party from P/S Ghagwal led by SI Rajeshwar Singh laid a naka near Tapyal on National Highway in district Samba. "During naka checking police team at about 04:00 hrs intercepted a truck bearing registration No JK02AF-3911 coming from Kathua and was signaled to stop but driver accelerated his truck towards Samba. "Acting swiftly police party chased the said truck and intercepted the same near Sohanda village on NHW, police sources said, adding, "however driver of vehicle taking advantage of darkness fled away from the spot while abandoning the truck." "On thorough checking of truck police team found 12 Oxen brutally tied with rope inside the truck under inhumane condition, they said and added that truck and the bovine animals were seized. Meanwhile a case FIR No 90/2016 u/s 188/RPC, 2/3 PCA has been registered in Police Station Ghagwal and investigation is on. |
