Two army Jawans injured, 7 houses partially damaged as Pak targets Indian posts in Mendhar

Poonch, Nov 7: Adamant Pakistan today again violated ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked firing and shelling on forward Indian posts and civilian areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendher of Poonch district in Jammu region of state.
"Pakistan troops resorted to unprovoked firing this morning at forward Indian posts and civilian areas in Balakote and Mendhar sectors of Poonch," police sources here said, adding that two Army Jawans reportedly sustained injuries in the firing."
Sources said besides this several houses were partially damaged in cross border shelling and firing from Pakistan. They also said that fire coming from other side destroyed cattle feed (dried grass) due to explosion of shells.
Sources said, "Pakistan rangers started mortar shelling at 0009hrs and the firing continued till 0330 pm forcing people to stay indoors." They also maintained that several houses along Mendhar sector got damaged partially while stocks of dried grass stored by locals, was destroyed in this firing due to explosion of mortar shalls. Sources said that dozens of cattle were also injured and later on a buffalo died due to fatal injuries during medical treatment.
According to official army spokesperson, the Indian Army gave a befitting reply to firing from Pakistan and decimated several Pakistani posts near LoC. They added during the retaliation 2 Jawans sustained injuries who have been shifted to MH for treatment. Meanwhile sources said due to fire in dried grass the smoke spread all over and by the evening the visibility had been deceased to large extent.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mendhar Thakur Sher Singh said that the teams have been constituted to take the stock of damages to the locals houses in shelling in affected areas.
'After the assessment the victims will be given appropriate compensation to their damages houses and dead cattle and so on," SDM said.
