Srinagar, Nov 9: In a bid to overcome difficulties faced by people and to include Srinagar in the list of 'Smart Cities', the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Wednesday set 15th November deadline to seek suggestions from general public vis-à-vis the development. Addressing a press conference at SMC office in Karan Nagar, Shafqat Khan, the Civic body Health officer and Nodal Officer Smart City Project sought suggestions from people across the city to present their views, ideas to develop Srinagar into a 'Smart City'. "We through Media want to inform general public to communicate us their views, suggestions within the given time to beautify Srinagar and adorn it with latest facilities to overcome difficulties faced by the people here, "Khan said. He while terming the Smart City project as people's project said that people here need to come forward and put forth their views to help and enable project coordinators to pave way for development in Srinagar. Khan said that although many issues like pedestrian walkways, promoting cycling and others have been highlighted by Senior Citizens and Media men through interactions but general public is yet to present their views and Srinagar can only be developed into a Smart City when people across length and breadth would apprise project coordinators of the issues faced by them. He said they do not want stake holders to come after deadline and cry for not entertaining their suggestions saying, "We are giving ample time to our citizens who have concern for Srinagar to give their opinions to beautify Srinagar and request them send these suggestions within the given time". The Nodal Officer Smart City project said that the people can present their view points to Smart City Srinagar Cell through email id srinagarsmartcity@ gmail.com, face book page, twitter handle or through land line no 0194-2474499 or if anyone thinks that the issue needs to be discussed he can contact Informatics Division Cell. and discuss the same. He further said that the draft proposal is to be submitted to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD) and for that the deadline stands at 15 December. |
