Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi abolishing Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes has sent the separatists and the Pak-agents into a tizzy as the currency notes which had infiltrated into Kashmir through Hawala channels have turned into a mere pieces of paper.
Sources told Early Times that Pakistan this year had pumped in lot of money into Kashmir through Hawala channels to trigger unrest in the Valley. The miscreants who pelt stones and resort to arson were paid in cash by their handlers during the past four months. "Rs 500 and Rs 1000 were used to make the payments. As these notes have been scrapped, the separatists and their henchmen are scratching their head," the sources added.
They said, "The government's decision to scrap the currency notes has left many people in shock. They can't even deposit these notes in banks as they would have to explain from where they got the money from."
A Kashmir watcher said, "Government's decision to scrap the Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes would help to restore normalcy in Kashmir, which has been witnessing the turmoil for the past four months."
He said, "Now separatists and their aides would have to wait for new currency notes to once again fuel unrest in Kashmir. Scrapping currency notes is government's master stroke. Separatists and their aides had kept black money in their homes and this money is unaccounted for."
A police official said, "Bank accounts of separatists are already under scanner as their transactions are being watched. Choking the funding of separatists has always been a big challenge. Besides money being sent through Hawala channels, Pakistan had sent lot of fake currency notes into Kashmir and this had become a headache for law enforcing agencies and the people."
He said, "Changing currency notes has broken the back of separatists and the terrorists in Kashmir. Inputs suggest that a few people in Pakistan were into the business of printing fake Indian currency notes. These fake currency notes used to be smuggled into India through different routes. Many fake currency notes are in circulation across the country. This move has left our enemies high and dry."
Sources said, "The people who are associated with separatists were on pay roll of Pakistan and they used to get their salaries and stipends in cash. The unlimited flow of cash into Kashmir had turned separatism into a well organized Mafia in the Valley. Now this Mafia has to look for ways and means to survive. It won't be possible for separatists to keep their associates with them without cash."
