Govt delegates magisterial powers to 25 LMD Officers

JAMMU, NOV 9: Government today conferred magisterial powers to 25 officers of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) to mitigate the problems of consumers in a more efficient manner.
The move came after the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs took up the matter with the Department of Law who issued SRO 341 conferring powers to the LMD Officers.
"In exercise of powers conferred by sub section (1) of section 12 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, Samvat 1989 and in supersession of all previous notifications issued in this behalf, the government appointed the following officers of the Legal Metrology Department to be the Executive Magistrates - first class who may exercise all the powers of an Executive Magistrate of the first class while performing their duties within respective areas," the notification reads.
According to the notification, VS Sambyal, Deputy Controller Jammu, Tanveer Ahmed Deputy, Controller Srinagar, Manoj Prabhakar, Deputy Controller Enforcement Jammu, Mohammad Baqir Deputy Controller Kargil, MA Mughal Deputy Controller Taxi Meters, SS Labs Jammu, Dilshada Bano, Deputy Controller Taxi Meters Srinagar, Altaf Hussain Najar, Deputy Controller Budgam, Ajay Kumar Assistant Controller Samba, Anita Sharma Assistant Controller Udhampur, Anil Kumar, Assistant Controller Ramban, Nazir Ahmed Dar, Assistant Controller Shopian, Kuldeep Raj Assistant Controller Reasi, Ishey Panchok Assistant Controller Leh, Jaideep Singh Sambyal, Assistant Controller Kathua, Rajesh Heera, Assistant Controller Rajouri, Kewal Krishen, Assistant Controller Jammu, Mohammad Muzaffar Wani, Assistant Controller Kulgam, Sunil Hiteshi, Assistant Controller Anantnag, Mudasir Rashid, Assistant Controller Baramulla, Shabir Ahmed Mir, Assistant Controller Budgam, Kapil Dev Singh Jamwal, Assistant Controller Kishtwar, Pushkar Raj, Assistant Controller Jammu, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Assistant Controller Bandipora, Fouzia Rubeen, Assistant Controller Ganderbal and Manzoor Hakeem Assistant Controller Pulwama have been conferred with the Magisterial powers.
Congratulating the officers, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali stressed upon them to work with more dedication and commitment. He said the step has been taken to boost the morale of the officers and empower them so that they resolve the matters of consumers in more efficient manner. He said that conferring these powers to officers will ultimately mitigate the problems of the consumers in the state.
