Srinagar, Nov 9 Security forces today averted a major tragedy when they detected and defused a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the frontier district of Kupwara, official sources said here.
They said a security force Road Opening Party (ROP) during checking detected an IED on roadside at Tutigund Wadpora, Handwara, in north Kashmir district of Kupwara. Security forces immediately sealed the area and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was summoned. Later the IED was defused by the BDS without causing any damage, they said adding the IED was planted to target security force convoy in the area. |
