Congress holds Candle Marches over OROP across Jammu region

Jammu, Nov 9: Congress today held candle march at Raipur Domana and Marh Constituencies of Jammu district and at Udhampur as part of series of protest over the issue of One Rank One Pension (OROP) and the anti-democratic attitude of the Modi led Govt and its failure on various fronts.
The march at Raipur Domana was led by Former Minister and Vice President PCC Mula Ram alongwoith Th. Hari Singh Chib, while the Protest march at Marh was led by Mahila Congress President Smt Indu Pawar (Ex-MLA) and protest march at Udhampur led by former Minister and General Secretaries PCC Yogesh Sawhney, Faqir Nath (ex-MLA), District President Ashok Gupta and Secretary PCC Pawan Raina, besides other senior leaders.
The protestors including ex-servicemen marked through markets while raising slogans and holding play cards took out candle light march simultaneously against the failure of Modi Govt to implement the OROP in-toto, as promised by during Lok Sabha polls.
Terming Ram Kishan Grewal's suicide over the failure of the Govt to fulfill the commitment as unfortunate, they protestors said that Modi Govt ill-treated and detained the family members of late Grewal and AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi, which reflects the insensitive and anti-democratic attitude of Modi Govt
Addressing the protestors at Muthi Morh in Raipur Constituency Mula Ram lashed out at the Modi led BJP Govt for its failure on various fronts and not fulfilling his promises to the people of different sections. He said that the majority of the Ex-servicemen feel cheated over the issue of OROP while the Modi Govt. is thumping its chest.
Leading the protest at Parwa in Marh Constituency Smt Indu Pawar Ex-MLA and President Mahila Congress accused the Modi Govt of misleading the people through falsehood and its failure to fulfill the promise of OROP in toto, as a result the ex-servicemen are feeling betrayed.
Sr Congress leader Ms Pawar said that the sky rocketing prices of all commodities of common use have proved the falsehood and hollowness of the Modi Govt and all election promises have proved to be only "Jumlas" to befool the masses for vote bank. She also said border residents are facing great hardships due to Pak shelling but Govt has failed to fulfill the commitments to them to provide alternate accommodation and 5 marlas plots in safe areas.
At Udhampur the Congress activists including ex-servicemen have lashed out the failure of the Modi Govt to fulfill the implementation of OROP and other promises and the unprecedented price hike and the deteriorating situation on the borders. Protestors accused the BJP betraying the electorates of Jammu Region for the sake of power which has exposed the real face of BJP.
