Four youths, including 3 minors, arrested in school burning case Srinagar | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 9 : Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed to have arrested four youths, three of them minors allegedly involved in burning of a school and a makeshift shop in the central Kashmir district of Ganderbal, a senior police officer said today. He said on October 27 evening some miscreants attempted to set on fire the Government Middle School, Duderhama in Ganderbal district by hurling a petrol bomb due to which some furniture of the school caught fire. The accused were presented before a court, he said. He said miscreants also set on fire a wheel cart of a fruit vendor Abdul Hamid Kandroo at Ganderbal, causing major damage to it. FIR was registered respectively and investigation taken up by the police. He said keeping in view the gravity of offences a special investigation team (SIT) headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (SP) Ganderbal was constituted. During the investigation, four accused identified as Yasir Mukdoomi, Azam, Huzaif Rashid and Mubashir Ahmad Tantray all resident of Duderhama were identified and subsequently arrested. During the questioning they confessed their involvement in crime. He said during the investigation it further surfaced that Yasir Mukdoomi, a medical practitioner was the main brain behind these incidents and the conspiracy to burn schools was hatched by him at his medical shop at Duderhama. Besides he provided petrol to the other accused and helped them to make petrol bombs that could cause fire. All the four people after found involved in these arson incidents were arrested and subsequently produced before the court, he said adding among the accused, three are minor and are being dealt under relevant sections of law. |
