| Training Programme on compost preparation for mushroom Cultivation concludes | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 10: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Jammu, R.S.Pura, SKUAST-J organized a week long training programme on Compost Preparation for Mushroom Cultivation. Twenty five farm women from balackech, Sandhey, Dehar, Rangpur, langeral and Kothe participated in the training programme.
During the seven days programme participants were demonstrated and provided hands on training on low cost technology compost preparation, year round cultivation of different varieties of mushroom and post-harvest care and value addition.
During the training programmed Vikas Tandon Sr Scientist and Head KVK Jammu briefed the participants about the different methods of compost preparation. Dr Sheetal Badyal guided farmers about the various basic ingredients required for mushroom cultivation and different processes of value addition of mushroom. Dr Rakesh Sharma Sr Scientist and motivated farm women to adopt round the year mushroom cultivation as an enterprise and stressed upon the formation of farmers clubs and self help groups for better profitability of the enterprise.
Dr Sham Parshad SMS Horticulture provided practical hands on training of piling and different turning processes required for compost preparation.
Dr Punit Choudhary elaborated upon the adoption of various sterilization procedures, sampling the compost for pH and sanitation methods to be adopted during the whole process of mushroom cultivation.
Poonam Abrol Programme Assistant Home Science briefed the participants about the process of spawning and demonstrated the process of filling of polythene bags for mushroom cultivation. |
