BJP chief spokesperson, MLA speaking differently | Unity of Jammu region | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 10: It was only on October 20 that J&K BJP's chief spokesperson tore into the PDP and its ministers and bureaucrats for using such nomenclatures for the Pir Panchal Mountain range as Chenab Valley (in this case the erstwhile Doda district) and Pir Panchal Valley (in this case Poonch-Rajouri belt). He accused the PDP and PDP Ministers of dividing the Jammu province on religious and ethnic lines by terming the otherwise non-existent Chenab Valley and Pir Panchal Valley, saying the use of such nomenclatures was calculated to disintegrate the distinct and historical Jammu province and creating ill-will between the communities. The BJP chief spokesperson even went to the extent of declaring that the BJP would take up this issue with the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, and ask her to direct the PDP ministers and the bureaucrats not to term Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts as Chenab Valley and Poonch and Rajouri districts as Pir Panchal Valley. The BJP spokesperson was absolutely right when he raised his finger against the PDP and the PDP ministers. For, he had given everyone in Jammu to understand that the BJP meant business and that it would not allow anyone to tinker with the unity and integrity of the Jammu province. Ironically, it was the BJP MLA itself who contradicted the party chief spokesperson and took a line which was not consistent with the party line. And it was none other than the BJP MLA from Doda itself who embarrassed the party spokesperson by terming the erstwhile Doda district Chenab Valley. In fact, his official handout called the erstwhile Doda district Chenab Valley. Reflecting on his achievements at a public meeting in Doda district, the BJP MLA, Shakti Singh Parihar said, "In a very short time we have achieved many milestones, especially in the Marmat areas. The Sudhmahadev-Marmat tunnel will provide the people of 'Chenab region' an alternative national highway and its survey is underway". All this suggests that there is no coordination between the party and the party lawmakers. The BJP needs to set its own house in order so that no one in the party advertently or inadvertently do anything that has the potential of helping the votaries of Greater Kashmir to destroy the unity and integrity of the region. |
