Speculations agog over another extension to DGP Rajendra | | | K Koushal Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 10: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police K Rajendra, who is presently on three months extension till December 2016, might get another three months. Kumar, a 1984 batch IPS officer, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, was appointed DGP in 2014 and was to retire on September 30 but presently on three months extension period which is likely to be extended for three more months. Highly placed sources claimed that the Ministry of Home is likely to extend the extension period of the DGP for three more months. "There are speculations for the renewal of extension period for three months of DGP", said a senior police officer adding that some of the top bureaucrats is also of support of the extension. Owing to the ongoing unrest, J&K Director General of Police K Rajendra Kumar has been given an extension of three months in his services and the decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in the month of September. Sources said the decision to give extension was approved by the Centre as the coalition government was 'perplexed' as to who would replace him at the point of time when J&K was battling a massive law and order situation after the killing of Burhan Wani, a militant of Hizbul Mujahideen. |
