JAMMU, Nov 10: Advisor to Chief Minister Prof. Amitabh Mattoo today chaired a meeting to discuss various issues pertaining to Kashmiri Pandit migrants. The meeting was attended by Member J&K Legislative Council Surinder Ambardar, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Financial Commissioner Planning and Development Department & Relief & Rehabilitation B. B. Vyas, Commissioner Secretary PDD Dheeraj Gupta, Commissioner Secretary Public Works & Roads and Buildings Department Rohit Kansal, Commissioner Secretary Public Health Engineering/ I& FC Department Sanjeev Verma, OSD to Chief Minister Sadaat Hussain, Managing Director, Jammu and Kashmir Projects Corporation Daleep Thusu, Chief Engineer Public Works & Roads and Buildings Alok Mengi. A delegation of prominent persons, including the head of APMCC (All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee) Vinod Pandit, President All India Kashmiri Samaj Moti Koul and KP Sabha President K K Khosa were also present.
Threadbare discussion was held on various vital issues including establishment of an effective Mechanism for Public Grievance Redressal, convergence planning, skill development initiatives, monitoring of developmental works, initiatives, plans by respective departments for effective implementation of flagship programmes, Centrally Sponsored Schemes, Essential Services, Performance monitoring, achievement of targets, projects of education, rural Development and Health Sectors for migrants, etc. Earlier, the delegation of migrants presented a charter of demands highlighting the issue of Return & Rehabilitation of the migrants to the valley, political empowerment, implementation of Employment Package in letter and spirit, setting up of medical emergency fund, improvement of facilities in Jagti Township and other transit accommodations where the displaced persons are residing. Prof Mattoo assured them that all the demands would be taken up with the Chief Minister for their early redressal. He said that work on apartments at Sheikhpura is in full swing and is expected to be completed by December 2017. It was informed in the meeting that additional 3000 posts under PM's Package for return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants would be created and advertised soon to provide avenues of employment to the community. Mattoo assured the people that the process for recruitment of Kashmir Migrants under PM's package would be further streamlined and expedited. |
