JAMMU, Nov 10: AIKS has been fighting for the cause of displaced Kashmiri Pandit community at different platforms. "To protect the interests of deprived, oppressed and displaced KPs, AIKS had also filed a petition in Supreme Court under Article 32 of the Constitution of India in 2006. In it, several issues of fundamental rights and dignity of the citizens and their rights to constitutional protection, as also the profound issues of their interest were raised. The petition also listed the alleged callous, complacent and apathetic approach of the respondents towards the displaced community," according to an AIKS office bearer. He said the Supreme Court had heard their petition almost regularly. The counsels of respondents were asked by the court to file 'Action Taken Report'. As the government replies were not satisfactory, the case dragged on for a long time. After hearing the arguments, the Supreme Court had on February 24, 2016, transferred the petition to the J&K high court. In Jammu, the court heard the case on June 28, 2016 when the counsel for J&K state had sought time to study the case. |
