| Mendhar Youth drowns under mysterious circumstances | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Nov 10: In suspicious circumstances a youth from Mendhar of Poonch district today reportedly was drowned in a river near Army Hospital on Jammu-Poonch Highway under the jurisdiction of Police Station Nowshera. Police have registered a case in this regard.
Police sources said, "Four friends namely Muddassar Azad (now dead) s/o Mohd Hussain resident of Gursai (Mendhar) alongwith advocate Sayeed Wajahad Qazmi r/o Surankot, Tariq Mehmood r/o Gursai, Wahid Ahmed r/o Dodassanwala (Rajouri) on their way to Jammu from Surankot in Tata Sumo vehicle bearing registration No.JK02BH-7428 driven by Murtaza Shah of Surankot had a halt at about 3.30 pm at Dhallian for snacks.
"Meanwhile driver went to the nearby river to take bath and later he was also followed by all the four friends and they also started taking bath, police sources said quoting the associates of deceased.
They said that the deceased who was reportedly little known to swimming slipped into deep water.
"His friends raised alarm and some locals also rushed to spot the rescued the drowned youth in unconscious condition who was immediately rushed to the Sub District Hospital (SDH) Nowshera but was declared brought dead by the doctors, sources said.
"The police has started inquest proceeding in the incident. "The police will investigate the incident from every angle," said Nawaz Choudhry, SDPO, Nowshera.
Meanwhile Police have kept the body in the mortuary at SDH Nowshera and has informed the family members of the deceased. |
