34 kgs poppy straw seized, two held | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Nov 28: In continuation of drive against drug/narcotics smugglers, Police today claimed to have arrested two narcotics smugglers alongwith 34 Kgs of poppy straw (Bhukki) which was recovered from their possession during a naka at Jakheni Chowk in Udhampur district. According police spokesperson, "Following specific information, a team of Udhampur police intercepted a truck coming from Kashmir. "During the search of truck bearing registration No PB6D-4488 at Jakheni Chowk, the police team recovered 34 kgs of poppy straw from the possession of two occupants of the said truck. Police arrested the accused identified namely as Kalwinder Singh son of Sobha Singh and Shakti Singh son of Manhor Singh both of Gurdaspur Punjab. The police team also seized the consignment of contraband and the truck as well. Accordingly the police have registered a case under section 8/15 NDPS at Police Station Udhampur and further investigations are on. |
