Party calls for 'Jan Aakrosh Diwas', legislator enjoys govt function | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 28: Even when the Congress high command has called for 'Jan Askrosh Diwas' today to protest the 'inconvenience' caused to the common people in the backdrop of Demonetization, a party legislator from Gulabgarh Constituency was seen enjoying government function. According to reports, a Congress legislator-Mumtaz Ahmad Khan was seen at a function to accentuate government schemes, which was attended by cabinet minister. To castigate the demonetization policy of the union government, congress high command in New Delhi had announced to observe Jan Aakrosh Diwas today to highlight problems of the common people, but its MLA from Gulabgarh was seen enjoying government function. "The legislator did not toe the line of party high command to protest against government policies, but instead spared special time for the function to highlight its policies, especially regarding welfare schemes started by the government," said sources, adding that it shows 'nothing is going well in congress'. "One can imagine the working of the Congress part in Jammu and Kashmir, wherein not even call of party high command is abided," sources said and added that the party legislator did not respect the party high command. "The personal call of the legislator to attend government function instead of supporting Jan Aakrosh Diwas shows that he had no problem with the demonetization," said sources. Meanwhile, a senior party leader said that the act of MLA is condemnable, as he was assigned duty to handle affairs of the Sangaldan and adjoining areas, but he preferred to attend the government function. "No matter, whether he attend the government function before or after the protest, but it was his mandate to boycott government for a day, as party had called for Jan Aakrosh Diwas to criticize government policies," said senior Congress leader, wishing not to be named. However, admitting that the concerned MLA was assigned to manage protest at Sangaldan, PCC Chief GA Mir said that he had no idea about his attending government function. |
