Promotion on fake degrees: Legal notice served to forest department | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 28: Already in dilemma for various reasons, forest department has been served legal notice by aggrieved Rangers and Foresters. According to sources, legal notice was served to the department over promotions to fake degree holders and adhocism prevailing in the department. "The in-charge system may be given a decent burial at the earliest. Enquiry by a competent agency may be conducted against fake degree holders. SRI 335 of November, 1991 may be followed in its true letter and spirit", conclusion of the notice severed to Commissioner Secretary Forest Department, PCCF J&K, CCF Jammu and CCF Kashmir read. "In-charge system: Devolving upon ineligible officials of the Forest Department an authority to man a superior post by making him in-charge ostensible for a brief period but then allowing him continue till the end of his services facilitating availing of all service benefits meant for respective posts. These illegal actions being in express violation of Rule-25 of J&K CCA Rules are also contemptuous of apex court's judgment in well known Suraj Prakash Gupta's case", legal notice read. While taking on the department for granting promotions to fake degree holders Advocate said, "Promotions have been given to several officials who either hold a degree which is fake on the face of it or has been secured from institutions or study centers which have been declared fraud or bogus by various judicial and administrative authorities."
